Postpartum Doula Services &
Overnight Newborn Care

You’ve taken your childbirth class, read lots of books on labor and birth, and even managed to pick out a car seat and your baby’s name, but have you truly prepared for AFTER your birth...when you will be bringing your baby home to live with you 24/7?

After working with almost 500 couples over the last 22 years, I can honestly say that most of my clients are a bit unprepared and shocked by the intensity of the first few weeks of life with their newborn!

It became very clear to me that simply reading a book or two on the newborn phase and maybe taking an infant care class was nowhere near enough to truly prepare them for this time of incredible change in their lives.  So I decided to do something about it!

My main goal is to educate my couples on the postpartum period in a way that provides them with realistic expectations and a set of exact, hands-on skills for them to use in those first few weeks and months with their newborn.

I have also found one common denominator when it comes to how well couples cope with this newborn phase, and that is SLEEP!  We all know how important sleep is to our overall well-being, but unfortunately, your baby isn’t really worried about that. They’re more concerned with being fed every 2-3 hours around the clock!

This lack of sleep combined with the fluctuating hormones of a new mother, can lead to utter exhaustion and feeling like it’s impossible to “stay on top” of things.

So what can you do to work with your baby’s intense schedule, all while still getting enough sleep to feel sane, be able to function, and even enjoy these first few months with your baby? HIRE A NIGHTTIME DOULA!

Getting adequate sleep in those first few weeks can truly make the difference between a blissful, happy postpartum period or a stressful, exhausting one. Let me help you achieve the prior by giving you extra hours of sleep each night while lovingly caring for your precious baby.

I also offer daytime doula care for those moms who may not have family close by to help or maybe their partner has to head back to work. No matter the reason, a daytime doula can help to "mother the mother" so that she can effectively care for her baby.

I’d love to set up a complimentary zoom call so I can tell you all about my services and how they can help you make the most of those first few weeks with your baby and leave you with nothing but wonderful memories of your postpartum period.

What Would It Look Like If We Worked Together?

Father with Newborn Baby

In-Home Prenatal Visit

{Three weeks prior to your EDD}

The first few weeks home with your newborn are a time of major transition and adjustment. Just like with labor, having the right tools and techniques on board can help to make it a positive, calm, and memorable time in your lives.

I want to provide you with hands-on, proven techniques that will help you with newborn soothing, feeding, and sleep!

During this visit, some of the topics we will cover are:

  • Understanding newborn sleep and learning how YOU can get the most rest during this sometimes-exhausting phase of parenting.

  • Newborn feeding...whether you are breast or bottle feeding or a combo of both.

  • Learning the 5 S's from The Happiest Baby on the Block techniques for soothing your crying or colicky newborn {they really do work!}.

  • Demonstrations on baby wearing with a wrap. I promise it's not as hard as it looks and it can be a real lifesaver in those first few months with your baby!

  • Discuss how to establish trust with your baby and why it's important.

  • Infant massage instruction on strokes and techniques to help with newborn gas, constipation, and tummy troubles.

  • Discussing any other questions or concerns that you have that feel too small or insignificant to bother your pediatrician with, but that you'd really like the answers to.
